“Red is in the air” – it’s the color of love, joy, happiness, pleasure, enjoyment, celebration …… and most of all; it’s the color for Chinese New Year.
Chinese New Year is a time for family gathering, time to say “Kung Hei Fat Choy” to friends and relatives that you may hardly meet during the year. I remembered when I was growing up; my Mom was busy weeks before CNY to prepare for the continuous feasts at our house. For me and my sisters, it was time for us to do almost anything we liked since Mom and Dad would be too busy with all the guests coming and going. We could enjoy all the junk food we liked, counting all the money from the red packets and goofed around.
My grandfather would always have a glass of Mateus Rosé at dinner, and I remembered the shape of the bottle vividly and that was the first wine I tasted years later when I started to appreciate the fermented grape juice.
Now, CNY is time for people to go on vacation. But I do rather enjoy staying in Hong Kong during this time of year. You could almost have Hong Kong to yourself for a very short period of time.
While deciding on how to spend the 3-day holiday, we decided on a theme – “Symphony of Flavors – Fine Dining”. So as an act true to my personality, made reservations at three restaurants within a few minutes:
Japanese – Roka
Italian – Domani
French – Caprice
A nice touch for the holiday!
