Standing in the front of the Board Room, with 20 colleagues in the room, I was as eager as they were in my debut of teaching wine tasting.
“Wine is for enjoyment, so let’s enjoy the ride and hope you learn something new today.” I continued, “You will be tasting 4 distinct styles of wines. At the end of the class, hopefully you will be able to name the wines just by tasting it.”
When I was deciding on the theme of the class, what could I accomplish in 90 minutes? A tour of the wine regions around the globe sounded appealing. It’s about appreciation of wine and making wine more approachable.
The four wines with distinct style ……
Beaujolais Village – light and fruity
Australian Cab / Merlot – medium bodied and fruity
Bordeaux – full bodied, high tannin and complex
Recioto – sweet wine with strong aroma of dried raisin
I was so pleased to see the smile on everyone when they were so excited that they could actually taste the difference of the 4 wines. Mission accomplished!
