What is the classic aroma and flavor of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc? Gooseberry!
When you read through the fruit characteristics on the WSET Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine, citrus, green fruit, stone fruit, red fruit, black fruit, tropical fruit …… this must be the one fruit that very few people have tasted.
I was having lunch at Whisk, and when the dessert plate arrived with fresh fruit as garnish. So pleased to find this piece of gooseberry, took a bite and yes the familiar flavor of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from the Kiwi land.
But then what was the dessert?! Don’t remember!
Sorry, it is not Goosebery but Physallis.
