A non-commerical Bordeaux white
What does “lifestyle” mean? It was fun sharing my view with old acquaintances and new friends over a few glasses of wines in a cozy Bistro this past weekend.
While sharing our views, there was also a very interesting wine we shared over dinner, interesting because it is not a commercial wine. The owner is passionate about wine and bought a small vineyard and experimenting wine making. The 2008 Bordeaux white was from this vineyard.
The moment you poured the wine into the glass, you would notice the wine was unclear, kind of murky. It would probably hard to sell in a restaurant. Knowing the story behind the label, we were all eager to try it. It was made from Sauvignon Blanc, and oak’s presence was very strong on the nose and palate. It showed grapefruit, lime and vanilla.
To enjoy the wine, we ordered fresh oysters and chilled French Dungeness crab to match the Bordeaux white. The wine tasted very balanced and mellow after paring with the delicious crab.
And my view on lifestyle? It is an attitude, the appreciation of finer things in life. It’s finding a small bistro tucked away in the quiet part of town, its sharing wines that most people won’t know but it’s unique in its own rights, it’s enjoying life to its fullest and won’t have any regrets the day you kick the bucket!
