The two wine dispensing machines at the bar area of SML were quite eye catching.  There were 8 selections for both red and white.  The restaurant was in the midst of promoting Mexican fair – chicken quesadillas, shrimp fajitas, salsa sauce, smoked salmon marinated in chili pepper and cilantro – my favorites!  (more…)

Ch Pontet Canet

A 5-course dinner at H-One accompanied by 10 vintages of Chateau Pontet Canet with a finishing touch of a glass of Cognac Tesseron.  All the wines were direct from the Chateau and the owner Monsieur Alfred Tesseron was in town to host the dinner.

Chateau Pontet Canet, a fifth growth from Bordeaux which I visited last summer with my husband.  The tour included a lunch at the Chateau and Monsieur Alfred Tesseron also hosted the lunch at the Chateau’s dining room. (more…)

Caprice with an impressive open kitchen, a showcase of fine dining with the Pastry Chef in the forefront displaying rows of tempting desserts for all the guests.

The Michelin 2-star restaurant serves contemporary French cuisine in an upscale hotel with a spectacular harbor view.  The holiday set lunch offered a good selection on appetizers and main course accompanied with a glass of house wine selected by the Sommelier.  (more…)

Domani Ristorante, with its green house façade situated between the two office towers of Pacific Place, brought the award winning Chef and menu to the gourmet scene of Hong Kong. “We opened our first restaurant in London 6 years ago” according to the Head Chef, Patrick at ROKA Hong Kong, and he has stayed in Hong Kong since the restaurant opened in July last year. 

ROKA is a contemporary style Japanese Robata Grill restaurant.  I asked Patrick if he’s trained as a Japanese chef, and he told me his training span across Italian and French cuisines.   The restaurant has an open kitchen and you could see the chefs all busy at the grill throughout the evening. 本小姐雖不至無辣不歡,但川菜的麻與辣實在甘之如貽。每隔數星期必要去狂吃一頓才心安理得。若問至愛川菜館, 最近比較喜歡花園道的三希樓。

對於外出用膳,本小姐對食物質素當然有一定的要求,但走進一間餐館,環境、服務 、餐酒種類亦同等重要,香港一般的中菜館不太着重餐酒, 所以每趟都會自攜餐酒來配主菜。 (more…)

Caprice - 3Caprice - 1A wine lover’s passion for the good life – today is a  good expression of what that meant.

It was all by impulse, I have a gift certificate for the Four Season Spa for a long time, and it is about to expire.  So I booked a 2 hour body treatment for today, a good escape for a day off from work.
